The “Spikey 2’ Awards.
BBC 2 launched its own award show ceromony, championing the best of the UK’s creative industries, to a packed celebrity evening at a converted Gainsborough Theatre in London.
The BBC approached BDH to make the evening (and channel) resonate as the home of the best in creativity. The resulting spikey ‘BBC 2 ‘ gave the evening a sharp-edge attitude, with on-screen idents and a ‘spikey-2’ styled award designed by BDH.
BDH’s visual themes ranged from spikes emerging from the ground to the more radical associations of stigmata and piercing. The on-air ideas were also worked into the stage designs and a themed party, including stilt walkers, spikey haired bartenders and fire breathers.
The evening was topped with a vintage performance from Blur.
