Johnlewis001_large

In a television first, the BBC go behind the scenes of John Lewis – one of Britain’s biggest and best known department stores.

BDH filmed over 30 live action and timelapse sequences using a set of mannequins. The timelapse sequences were stylised using a tilt-shift lens technique, creating a shallow focus, to make the environments look miniature.

The sequences were filmed in parallel with the documentary production, so we were able to make the shots specific to the story that unfolded. The interstitials were much admired and brought a visual edge to this observational series.
